Mariann Buckey
WAYNE - Mariann F. "Buttons" (nee Benedetto) Buckey, 72, died Sept. 10, 2008.
She was born in Alliance, Ohio, and had lived in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, then Wayne for 38 years before moving to Wanaque two years ago.
While living in Alliance, Ohio which is famous as the "Carnation City" she entered the Miss Carnation Beauty Pageant and was honored with a first runner up designation. Her first job was as a secretary at Ohio Power Company in Canton where she worked for four years.
Buckey battled cancer for 29 years. It went away with treatment, was in remission for 19 years and came back again 10 years ago. The disease was unrelenting and merciless and filled many days with extraordinary challenges. Her pending predicted demise turned into years and she survived 10 more quality years.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Daniel Buckey; daughters Denise Lynn Gaeta of Wayne and Dana Lynn Baum of Lincoln Park; son Daniel J. Buckey of Lincoln Park; and grandchildren Jeffrey and Alex Gaeta, Brooke Spadaro, Megan and Morgan Mariani, Jullian and Daniel J. Buckey.
She was predeceased by son Jeffrey Allan Buckey who passed away at the age of 6 months, son in law Mitchelle Baum in October 2006 and brother Richard Benedetto in 1992.

John Delaney
WAYNE - John "Jack" M. Delaney, 87, died Sept. 11, 2008.
Born in Paterson, Delaney lived there throughout his formative years, before moving to Wayne in 1957.
In 1942, Delaney joined the U.S. Army and served as a staff sergeant in the 78th Army Air Force. His specialty was as a cryptographic technician; coding and decoding secret messages in North Africa. He supervised a team of 15 men handling all sorts of secret communications. For his service during the war he was decorated with the American Theater Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.
After the war, he became an accountant and was a CPA for nearly 40 years, retiring from Grant Thorton of Parsippany, as a managing partner in 1985.
He served on the finance committee at the St. Josephs Hospital in Paterson, for over 25 years, was a past president of the N.J. Society of CPA’s, a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, past president of the Hamilton Club in Paterson, and founder and treasurer of the Three Arts Club of Paterson.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edna (nee Peters) of Wayne; daughters Donna Delaney and her husband Tom Stoskopf of Atlanta, Ga. and Diane and her husband Charles Somerdyk of Milmont Park, Pa.; son John and his wife Barbara of Stanhope; grandchildren Grant and Moira Somerdyk, and Lauren and Caitlin Delaney; sister Eileen Twomey of North Haledon and brother Robert Delaney of Toms River. He was predeceased by his brother William.

Shirley Finamore
WEST PATERSON/WAYNE - Shirley A. (nee Belmont) Finamore, 65, died Sept. 6, 2008.
Born in Paterson, she grew up in West Paterson and has lived in Wayne since 1970. She was a beautician at Salon 60 in Clifton for 20 years before her retirement.
Wife of Robert A. Finamore. Mother of DeAnne Finamore of Wanaque and Robert J. Finamore and his wife Patrice of Pompton Plains. Grandmother of Sabrina Finamore. Sister-in-law of Nicholas Finamore and his wife Marie of Baking Ridge.

Ruth Geitner
LITTLE FALLS - Ruth (nee Parker) Geitner died Sept. 9, 2008.
Born in Newark, Geitner resided in Nutley before moving to Little Falls in 1960 where her late husband, Rev. E. William Geitner, was pastor of the First Reformed Church. She then moved to Maplewood as her husband's pastoral pilgrimage took him to Calvary Reformed Church in Maplewood. Geitner moved to Somerset a few years ago. She had been a teacher in the Millburn School District.
Geitner was a former church elder at Calvary Reformed Church and was a member of the national and New Jersey Education Associations and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority of Millburn.
In addition to her husband, Geitner was predeceased by her daughter Alison Esther.
Survivors include daughter Sharon Seavy of Englewood, Fla.; step daughters Anna Ritsema of Holland, Mich. and Barbara Geitner of Bethlehem, Pa., and step son Rev. E. Peter Geitner of Carlisle, Pa.; sister Madaline Turner of Ravena, N.Y.; son in law Rev. James Esther of Somerset; grandchildren Laura Geitner, Paul Ritsema, E. William Geitner, Matthew Geitner, R. Peter Swart, Timothy Ritsema, John Esther, Andrew Ritsema, Jonathan Swart, Jeffrey Esther, and Ronelle Moore; and great grandchildren James, Joseph, Kaylee, Julia, Maura, Liam, Isabelle, Audrey Ruth, Jacob, Hannah, Annika and Brian.

Walter Glado
WEST PATERSON - Walter J. Glado, 85, died Sept. 12, 2008.
Born in Passaic, Glado resided in West Paterson since 1956. He retired as a tube tester with Thomson Co. of Dover. Previously, he was employed with Fairchild Co. and Dumont Co. Glado was a U.S Army veteran of World War II serving from 1943-1946,
He was predeceased by his daughter Patricia Ann Glado in 2005 and sister Rose Stefaniszyn.
Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara A. Turner; daughter Mary Katherine Glado of West Paterson; sister Sophie Kurdys of Passaic; one niece and two nephews.

Lois Hamilton
WAYNE - Lois R. (nee Dort) Hamilton, 82, died Sept. 13, 2008.
Born in Paterson, she resided in Wayne for the past 62 years. Hamilton was employed as a school bus driver for the Wayne Board of Education for 17 years prior to her retirement in 1989. Previously she was employed by the Great A & P Tea Co. in Paterson. Hamilton was a member and past matron of Silentia Chapter # 56 Order of Eastern Star in Butler. She is a past grand representative and district deputy of the Grand Chapter OES in New Jersey.
Hamilton was also a member of Mary Wallace Lodge # 72 Daughters of Scotia in Little Falls, Malaas Temple #20 Daughters of the Nile in Livingston and a former member and advisory board member of Paterson Assembly # 7 Order of Rainbow for Girls. Hamilton was a member of the Wayne United Methodist Church and a member of the church's Ruth Circle.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, William H. Hamilton, in 2004.
She is survived by daughter Patti L. Rhinesmith and her husband Thomas of Wayne; grandsons William L. and Jon S. Rhinesmith, also of Wayne; and great grandchildren Kaitlyn Rose and Grace Marie Rhinesmith, Tyler Joseph Boyle, Dylan William and Dereck Vincent Rhinesmith. Frank Jacobs
WAYNE - Frank E. Jacobs Jr.,62, died Sept. 10, 2008 at the Columbia University Hospital in New York City. He had been preparing for the installation of a special heart pump when his own heart failed just days shy of his scheduled surgery.
Jacobs was born in Passaic, grew up in Lyndhurst, and moved to Wayne 28 years ago. He was appointed to the Port Authority Police Department in January 1975 and retired in August 2008. As a police officer he worked in the Patrol Division at the various Port Authority facilities. In 1992 he was promoted to the rank of detective and worked at the Newark International Airport, the Port Authority Bus Terminal, the DEA Narcotics Task Force, the Customs Task Force and the Joint Terrorist Task Force. During his career he was cited seven times for bravery and exceptional police work.
Jacobs had been credited with participation in the Port Authority Police Departments Narcotics interdiction program and has made and participated in over 250 felony narcotics arrests. In 1993 he responded to the World Trade Center bombing and was instrumental in the search and rescue of many people. After the attack of Sept. 11, 2001, he was assigned to the Intelligence Unit with the Joint Terrorist Task Force. During his career he received recognition from many governmental and law enforcement agencies.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Lorraine (nee Rafanello); son Michael Jacobs of Princeton; mother in law Jennie Rafanello of Wayne; sister-in-law Mary Ann Lalicata and her husband Richard of East Hanover; brother William Jacobs and his wife Maureen of Verona; sister Kathleen Grossnick and her husband Tim of Wisconsin; as well as nieces and nephews Deanna and Victor Galante, Sean and Patrick Jacobs, and great-niece Gia Galante and great-nephew Jack Galante.
Jacobs was predeceased by his parents Ruth and Frank Sr.

Francis Jellema
WAYNE - Francis Jellema, 82, died Sept. 13, 2008.
Born in Harrison, Ark., he lived in Wayne for the past 42 years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a pressman with Midland Press in West Orange and a member of Preakness Valley United Reformed Church in Wayne.
Husband of Jean Jellema. Father of Roy Jellema of Wayne, Linda Bruins and her husband John of Davidson, Md. and Brian Jellema of Wilson, N.C. Louis LaNeve Jr.
TOTOWA - Louis A. LaNeve Jr., 70, of Totowa died Sept. 7, 2008.
Born in Paterson, he was a lifelong resident of Totowa. He served in the United States Navy and Air Force and was a member of St. James of the Marches Knights of Columbus Council 6574, Totowa, the Italian American Club of Totowa and Totowa Senior Citizens.
Father of Lisa DuPree and Diane May. Stepfather of Renee Adili, Tracey Lane and Diane Craney. Brother of Anthony LaNeve and Carmella Godshall. Grandfather of 11. Great grandfather of one.

James Maneri
WAYNE - James Philip Maneri, 85, died Sept. 7, 2008.
Maneri was born in Garfield and lived in Wayne. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the VFW in Garfield. He was employed by US Post Office Garfield for over 25 years before retiring. Maneri was a member of Our Lady Of The Valley RC Church, Wayne, the Golden Age Club, and Our Lady of Victories RC Church St Jude’s Prayer Group.
He is survived by daughters Karen and her husband Jim Marshall and Nancy and her husband Eugene Pierinelli; son Frank and his partner Alberto Cruz; and grandchildren Steven, Jessica, James, Christopher and Johnny.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (nee Zoll).

Suzanne Mastrelli
LITTLE FALLS - Suzanne (nee Condit) Mastrelli, 62, of Little Falls, died Sept. 11, 2008.
Wife of Salvatore. Mother of Thomas, Joseph and Nancy Ann Mastrelli, Susan Mills and Kimberley Sabatello. Sister of Marilyn Hammerstrom. Sister in law of Margie and Mario Barilari. Grandmother of nine. Great-grandmother of five.
She was a member of the Little Falls Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Silvo Miceli
WAYNE - Silvo Miceli, 60, of Wayne, died Sept. 5, 2008.
Born in San Giovanni, Gemini, Sicily, Italy, he came to the United States in 1966. Miceli lived in Garfield before settling in Wayne for the past 30 years. He was a deliveryman for GL Industries in Hillside for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rosalia LoBue; brother Gino and his wife Eva of Lake Hiawatha; sisters Vita Scrudato, Josephina Scrudato, Carmela Miceli and Antonina Provenzano and her husband Vincent, all of Garfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Donald Rainey
WAYNE - Donald F. Rainey died July 8, 2008 in Panama.
After retiring from Westwood as business administration 2003, he moved to Florida and lived there for five years. Born and raised in Westwood, Rainey moved to Wayne after graduating West Virginia Wesleyan and married Cornelia Ryerson (1939 to 2001). He served his country in the Army Reserves and later served his community as a Wayne councilman for eight years. Continuing his desire to serve the community he became business administrator for Hawthorne and later served Westwood as business administrator.
Rainey is survived by sons Steven Rainey and his wife Jeanine Mullins of Wayne and Craig and Kim Rainey of Martinsville; grandchildren Brennan, Macey, Rebecca and Erica; sister Norma and many nieces and nephews.

WAYNE - Maralda "Mickie" M. Sienkiewicz, 76, died Sept. 10, 2008.
Born in Paterson, she lived in Paterson before moving to Wayne 40 years ago. She was a homemaker and was a saleswoman for the Gold Post in Totowa with her husband.

Arthur Sorrentino
WEST PATERSON - Arthur Sorrentino, 78, of West Paterson, died Sept. 4, 2008.
He was born in the Stoney Road section of Paterson where he was raised. He moved to West Paterson in 1959. Sorrentino served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 238, West Paterson and was the post commander for several years. He was a butcher by trade.
Survivors include his daughter, Joanne and her husband James Day; grandchildren Anthony and Kathleen Day; brother Alfred Sorrentino and his wife Emma; sister in laws Marie Sorrentino and Chettie Sorrentino, niece Elaine; nephews Alfred and Philip; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Angela in 2000; sister Florence; and brothers Albert, Lawrence and Carmen.

Diane Squitieri
WEST PATERSON - Diane Grace (nee Favata) Squitieri, of West Paterson, died Sept. 6, 2008.
Squitieri was a department manager for Shop-Rite in Little Falls for 34 years retiring several years ago.
She is survived by her devoted friend William B. Frields. She was predeceased by her second husband Eugene J. Squitieri. Mother of Diana Lomuti, Denise Hecht, Dayna Frey, the late William Thomas Frields and Daria Dawn Frey. Step-mother of Paula Dowling. Sister of Roger Favata and the late Arlene May. Grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of three.

Katherine Steenstra
WAYNE - Katherine (nee Foshag) Steenstra, 83, died Sept. 7, 2008.
Before moving to Midland Park, she lived in Wayne for over 50 years. Before retiring, she was a special education aide with the Wayne Board of Education. Steenstra was a member of Faith Community Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff and former member of the Preakness Christian Reformed Church of Wayne.

Paul Sullivan
LITTLE FALLS - Paul Joseph Sullivan died Sept. 12, 2008.
Sullivan was born in Jersey City and lived in Totowa before moving to Little Falls nine years ago. He was a retired police lieutenant with the Hudson County Prosecutors Office and had served as a volunteer firefighter in Totowa for 19 years. Sullivan was also employed by the Passaic County Utility Authority as an inspector, Kalkstein Silk Mill in security and various other companies.
Husband of Karen (nee Stewart). Father of Karen Ann Gurrieri and her husband Ernest, and Kelly Tommasi and her husband Joseph, all of Totowa. LITTLE FALLS - Rose (nee Coan) Tomasella, 79, died Sept. 12, 2008.
Tomasella was born in Passaic and lived in Clifton before moving to Little Falls 25 years ago. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church, Clifton, and was a member of the Cordial Women's Club, Clifton. Tomasella worked for Forstmann Woolen Mills, Garfield.
Wife of Louis Tomasella. Mother to Frank Tomasella and his wife Gloria of Millstone Twp., Thomas Tomasella and his wife Ana of Boonton Twp. and Lisa Tomasella and her husband Tom Skorka of Cedar Grove. WEST PATERSON - Charlotte Marie Vankat, 74, died Sept. 12, 2008.
Born in Jersey City she lived in Fair Lawn before moving to West Paterson. She was a homemaker and a parishioner of St. Leo's R.C. Church in Elmwood Park.
