WEST PATERSON - As Magic Years Preschool in West Paterson welcomed new and returning students for another school year, they also welcomed a special anniversary. They are celebrating 30 "Magic Years" of educating children in the community.
Nestled back off of Lackawana Avenue is the place they call "Magic Years Preschool" students return year after year mostly by recommendation and referral. The school is open during the year following the regular school calendar and then shifts over to "Camp Kids" for summer education. The children in the camp program range from the end of kindergarten to the end of third grade.
This summer the learning center welcomed a visit by the "Lizard Guys" of Raritan. "Jungle Jon" provided an educational experience to the camp students. Part of the assembly included his Colombian boa constrictor Montana and his bearded dragon named Harold. The yearly science visit included all kinds of reptiles and animal friends that can perk up just about any ordinary day.
Owners Roger and Barbara Wood are so happy to reach this successful milestone because "we absolutely love what we’re doing," said assistant director Pat Cook, who is affectionately known by the student as "Miss Pat."
