ABC plans Town Tasting

On Oct. 28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., the Little Falls Alliance For A Better Community (ABC) will host its fourth town tasting at Cedar Grove's VFW Memorial Hall Post 6255, at 970 Pompton Ave (Route 23 north). About 30 local area restaurants will be present offering samplings of various menus, according to Renea Hoyt, ABC president.
Cost is $35 per person. To purchase tickets, go to the ABC Web site, www.abc-littlefalls.org, and click on the events banner. Print out the town tasting ticket request form and mail it with check to Alliance For A Better Community, 163 East Main Street, Box 104, Little Falls, NJ, 07424.
Tickets will not be mailed out, Hoyt said, but a paid name list will be at the door. Anyone with questions can contact Hoyt at 973-812-7916 or by e-mail at littlefallsabc@aol.com.
Only 200 tickets are available. As of Oct. 9, about half have been sold so far, Hoyt said.
The ABC president said the 30 featured eateries make up the largest ever town tasting line-up.
"When you see the list, you won't believe how many restaurants will be coming," she said. "Most of them said they're sending two separate dishes."
Entertainment will feature Little Falls' own Maristella, an internationally renowned singer, and Pencilworks and Mum's The Word, two Little Falls businesses, will have exhibits on display.
In addition, Hoyt said the alliance is seeking town tasting tricky tray contributions, adding that while ABC would like to have 20 or 25 baskets of stuff, they have a dozen or so right now. Any interested donors can call or e-mail the alliance.
All proceeds from the town tasting will benefit the ABC's town enhancement endeavors.
"We certainly want to put on more concerts next summer. We're really trying to put some money towards some type of beautification program with Main Street," she said, referring to decorative baskets or flags. "We would like to have the farmer's market again."
